Bob James

Bob is a native of Worthing having been brought up in Goring. His addiction to radio goes back to the 60's when he found,on a Sunday, up on the downs 'transmitting' his pirate radio station to the Worthing area. When he left school he joined a small electronics company manufacturing hi fi systems, stage and disco equipment and many other kinds of 'gadgets'.

By the late 70's Bob was Chief Engineer at the company and also working, as a DJ, in some of the top night clubs in Brighton.

He was one of the founder members who set up Southlands Hospital Radio, and was often seen in Montague Street, Worthing entertaining the masses.

The call of the radio world was so strong that in 1979 he started his first full time radio job as a presenter for Victory Radio in Portsmouth, where he stayed until he went to the broadcasting school in London, in 1983.

On leaving the B.S he was snapped up Southern Sound Radio, where he was Chief Engineer and top presenter for a number of years. He was head hunted by Mercury F.M became Chief Engineer, and presented a heavy rock show on a Friday, which brought in more fan mail than any one could have predicted, (it had to be stored in sacks as the mail box was too small).Bob stayed with Mercury until 1987 when, Southern Sound,by then known as Southern F.M head hunted him back as Chief Engineer and presenter. He remained with Southern F.M. until 1996 when he went to South Coast Radio.

Bob is, at present, Chief Engineer and top presenter with Sovereign Radio. You will also find him at the Junction Night Club in Brighton on a Friday/Saturday. He is also a founder and Chairman of W.B.C.
